pH Control Using CO2
Industrial Wastewater Treatment Step One
The addition of bottled carbon dioxide can be a very effective pH adjustment method that saves you money and effort.
The process of adding carbon dioxide to water converts the carbon dioxide to carbonic acid in the water, thereby decreasing the pH.
The benefits to you as compared to mineral acids are the following:
- non hazardous (documented inventory or manifests)
- no drum disposal costs
- no secondary containment needed
- no EC/TDS addition making the water reusable in many applications to higher cycles of concentration, as in cooling tower applications, prior to discharge.
